I decided to invest in vertical because as an entrepreneur I thought making an early investment in the cannabis industry, which was at the time just emerging, was very exciting. The truth is I didn't know what I didn't know about investing in cannabis but it was a really fun experience. I got to take on small operating roles over the course of a few years before COVID and I learned a lot about a whole new industry.
I invested in Nature Ways Travel because my son and daughter decided they wanted to get into business with each other and start a destination management company that would allow people to experience Costa Rica in a way that they couldn't on their own since we all love Costa Rica so much I thought this would be a great way to engage with them on a business level and help them achieve their dreams.
My investment in Sarah cocktail bar represents my commitment to helping local Ticos in Costa Rica. The owner of Sara was taking over for a family restaurant that was about to close and I believed in and trusted in his work ethic and vision.
Sprout Therapy Management is the overarching holding company for three therapy companies that I'm involved in. Connections Family Centered Therapy, Sprout Therapy Group, and Step-by-Step Pediatric Developmental Center. This is the business that I have been in most of my adult life and it's an area that I have deep expertise. We work with young children birth to five years old with disabilities in our outpatient clinics, home health programs, and integrated preschools.
I invested in Sauber MD because as a healthcare practitioner and someone who really appreciates technology I thought the intersection of health tech and AI would be a very exciting place to put some money and spend some time. SaluberMD is very active in Italy, Bahrain, Thailand and several other countries. We haven't penetrated the US market yet but hopefully it's just a matter of time.
